Metropolitan Housing Partnership names contractor to refurbish 537 homes and build 229 new houses
Contractor Durkan has been selected to redevelop the 拢70m Clapham Park Estate in south-west London by housing association Metropolitan Housing Partnership.
Durkan will oversee the refurbishment of 537 existing homes and build a further 229 new houses.
The Clapham Park Estate regeneration has been a long running saga since being declared one of 39 New Deal for Communities pilots in 2000.
In 2005 residents finally voted to transfer their homes from the council to a community led housing organisation called Clapham Park Homes, now part of MHP. Clapham Park Homes is now leading the regeneration.
Robert Clark, managing director of Durkan, said: 鈥淲e are looking forward to developing robust training and employment policies together with meaningful community initiatives to create a truly sustainable neighbourhood at Clapham Park.鈥
Phase 1 of the scheme will start in Autumn this year and will include the refurbishment of 67 homes across three separate blocks.
