Spanish contractor Dragados has won the job to deliver London Underground鈥檚 拢500m upgrade to Bank tube station, 好色先生TV understands.
The firm is understood to have beaten off competition from a consortium of Costain and Vinci to the job, which is aimed at improving capacity at the strategically important station.
London Underground has been through a lengthy process of early contractor engagement on the project after first issuing an OJEU notice in November 2011.
The client hopes the process will deliver 鈥渟ignificant cost, risk, programme, and other benefits鈥 through asking firms to develop innovative solutions to upgrading the station with minimum disruption.
The consortiums of Bam Nuttal, Ferrovial and Kier; and Morgan Sindall, Balfour Beatty and Alpine Bemo Tunnelling, dropped out at an earlier stage.
David Waboso, London Underground鈥檚 capital programmes director, said he was 鈥渄elighted鈥 with the response to the procurement process.
He added: 鈥淭he lead bidder represents both the lowest bid price and offers the greatest benefits.鈥
鈥淲e used the new ICE procurement process for the first time with this project. The process has been designed to allow bidders to bring their expertise and knowledge to drive innovation that will reduce cost and risk to the project.鈥
