Contractor takes total of next seven rivals combined with awards from Dalian Wanda and Great Portland

Multiplex led both contractor tables for the first month of 2017 after bagging two contracts worth a combined 拢918m 颅鈥 more than the sum total of the next seven contractors on the overall top 10 for the month.

The bulk of its January haul came from Chinese developer Dalian Wanda鈥檚 One Nine Elms south London luxury twin towers, with the remainder made up of Great Portland Estates鈥 Oxford House commercial mixed-use development, on the capital鈥檚 Oxford Street.

McLaren was second, with two contracts worth a combined 拢175m, both involving schools and residential build in the neighbouring London boroughs of Islington and Hackney.

Carillion made third place with a 拢90m contract for Moda Living in Manchester and civils work adding a further 拢49m.

A 拢135m contract for Dover Harbour Board鈥檚 Western Docks accounted for almost all of VokerWessels UK鈥檚 拢138m January awards, which secured it fourth place.

A total of 23 contracts worth 拢136m saw Willmott Dixon take fifth place overall 鈥 and third without civils. One large job was the mixed-use regeneration of a Westminster City Council housing block.

Laing O鈥橰ourke secured sixth place overall, and fourth without civils, with wins including 拢110m for OMA鈥檚 The Factory Manchester arts venue.

With 29 contract wins, Vinci Construction took seventh place overall. Kier topped both tables in November and December, but slipped to eighth place overall, or fifth without civils, after netting 拢100m in wins.

Interserve and Morgan Sindall complete the rest of the table, with contract tallies worth 拢98m and 拢95m respectively.
