Five of the UK鈥檚 most successful living architects are to be celebrated in a new BBC documentary

The programme, commissioned by BBC 4 and provisionally called Britain鈥檚 Masters of Modern Architecture, will focus on Richard Rogers, Norman Foster, Nicholas Grimshaw, Michael Hopkins and Terry Farrell, who were all born within five years of one another and worked in partnership between going on to become rivals on the global stage.

The documentary, made in collaboration with the RIBA, is to feature exclusive interviews with the five men and their collaborators, and, according to the BBC, will tell the story of how 鈥渢heir youthful dreams of building a better world - and shared fascination with the possibilities of new technology and advanced engineering - turned architecture into one of Britain鈥檚 strongest cultural exports.鈥�

The 60 minute show is being made by Oxford TV, will be accompanied by free RIBA talks and exhibitions across the country.

It is one of a number of programmes announced by BBC 4 controller Richard Klein to celebrate the channel鈥檚 10th anniversary.
