Decision on U+I project in Greenwich expected late next year

U+I has submitted plans for a 拢200m mixed-use scheme in Greenwich, south-east London.

The developer is part of a joint venture with Galliard Homes and current landowner Royal London to develop the former industrial estate.

Designed by Studio Egret West, proposals for the scheme (pictured), called Faraday Works, include turning the Victorian Siemens Brothers factory into 492 new homes.

Built in the 1860s, the factory, once the largest in London and set up by a member of the Siemens family, the German industrial group, manufactured communication cables until its closure in 1968.

Faraday Works will also include 8,400 sq m of workspace,  retail units and public space and improvements to the nearby Thames Path.

U+I is expecting a decision from Greenwich council in the second half of next year.
