Brookfield Multiplex will not automatically take a main contractor role, despite being part of consortium developing scheme

Paramount development in Kent

Contractor Brookfield Multiplex will not automatically take a main contractor role on the whole of the 拢2bn Paramount theme park development in Kent, despite being part of the consortium developing the scheme.

Tony Sefton, project leader for London Resort Company Holdings, the consortium of cement firm Lafarge, Brookfield Multiplex and developer Development Securities , told 好色先生TV that the consortium would appoint separate contractors for each section of the development.

鈥淭here will absolutely be a range of contractors appointed. There鈥檚 a range of major infrastructure as well as specialist jobs [in the theme park],鈥 he said.

But he added that Brookfield would be able to bid for work as it comes to market.

He said the development was 鈥渃ontent driven鈥 and a lot of the briefs for the construction work would not be fleshed out until commercial partners to run the park had been brought on board.

He also confirmed that LRCH is in advanced talks with a number of architects to masterplan the scheme.

Ray Hole Architects and FaulknerBrowns Architects have already worked on initial masterplanning and feasibility studies for the development.

Sefton said the consortium is also in advanced talks with a number of cost consultants to work on the scheme, but he declined to give details.

A range of appointments is expected over the next month.
