O&H Properties to follows regional planning progress instead

The government's eco-town programme suffered another blow today as the developer of one of the projects short-circuited the process in favour of the regional planning process.

Mayfair-based O&H Properties will follow the plan-led route for obtaining consent rather than the eco-town process, it said.

Director David Reavell said: 鈥淎fter a searching review, we have made the decision to withdraw from the current eco-town evaluation process. It is clear to me that sustainable development in Marston Vale will be best achieved through the plan-led system.鈥

鈥淥&H Properties Ltd remains a keen supporter of the rationale behind the eco-town concept, but after significant consultation, we feel that timely delivery of the development, and best use of investment, lie in adopting an alternative planning strategy.鈥

There are 11 remaining bidders on the eco-towns shortlist.
