The scheme will see the shopping centre double in size
Hammerson and joint venture partner Standard Life Investments have submitted detailed plans to Barnet council for the 拢1.4bn redevelopment of Brent Cross Shopping Centre.
Designed by Callison RTKL and Chapman Taylor the plans will see the shopping centre double in size to 2 millionft2 with over 7,600 car park spaces.
It will feature over 200 new retail stores, 60 restaurants, a cinema complex, hotel accommodation, a new town square, a relocated and enlarged bus station as well as improved public spaces.
Hammerson and Standard Life Investments secured outline planning consent in 2010 for the project, which is part of Barnet council鈥檚 wider 拢4.5bn regeneration plans for Brent Cross and Cricklewood.
Argent and its Amercian partner Related are working on the other half of the regeneration of Brent Cross and Cricklewood, which will see nearly 7,000 new homes, parks, community facilities and a new high street built.
Subject to approval, work on the redevelopment of Brent Cross Shopping Centre could begin as early as summer next year, Hammerson and Standard Life Investments said.
Peter Cole, chief investment officer for Hammerson said: 鈥淭his marks another significant milestone in the transformation of Brent Cross. We will create a world-class retail destination that will be the catalyst for a new and vibrant quarter.鈥
