McGee begins enabling works with main contractor for scheme over Crossrail station to be named in the autumn
Developer Derwent London鈥檚 拢260m mixed-use scheme over the Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station has got going after the railway handed over the site this week.
Specialist contractor McGee has started enabling works and Derwent London said it now expects to appoint a main contractor in the autumn to construct the 285,000ft2 office-led building known as Soho Place.
Designed by former Stirling Prize-winning architect AHMM, Soho Place will provide 209,000ft2 of offices, 36,000ft2 of retail and a 40,000ft2 theatre sitting over the London Underground and Crossrail station.
Ian Lindsay, director of land and property at Crossrail, said: 鈥淭his is the first Crossrail site to be handed over for full construction of the development above.
鈥淭ottenham Court Road is our flagship development with Derwent London and our highest value commercial site.
鈥淭he creation of new retail and commercial space including the first new West End theatre in a generation, will not only support the continued regeneration of Oxford Street but will help shape the future of this historic area in central London.鈥
