Consultant will provide QS and project management on University of Leicester expansion scheme
Construction consultant DBK has been selected to provide QS, project management, CDM coordination and utility planning services for a scheme to create 50% more space at the University of Leicester.
The total expenditure allotted to the four year property consultancy framework is in the region of 拢400m.
The scheme aims to create more space by extending and transforming the existing 19th and 20th Century buildings. This will allow on-campus student numbers to expand from 10,000 to 15,000 over the next 20 years.
The framework has been established to enable the university to implement the radical changes proposed by the 拢1bn Development Framework Plan proposed by masterplanner Shepheard Epstein Hunter.
Alan Stewart, director in DBK鈥檚 Birmingham office, said: 鈥淭he University of Leicester has a very forward thinking approach to investing in and expanding its campus in order to accommodate significant growth in its student population.
鈥淲e are very excited about working as part of the project team to deliver 50 per cent more space, together with high quality public realm, creating a highly sustainable 21st Century university campus.鈥
