Consultant Davis Langdon is to restructure its business to target 鈥渉uge opportunities鈥 in programme management and deter suitors for the 拢300m-turnover firm.

The main aim of the overhaul, which began on 1 May and will be completed by November, is to boost turnover contribution from programme management to 10% within five years. This involves the supervision of multiple projects for the same client and has become more prevalent on the back of schemes such as the Olympics and Crossrail.

Rob Smith, DL鈥檚 senior partner, said the business would be divided into six sectors, including retail and public. He said: 鈥淥ur ambition is to take the next step forward. We鈥檙e trying to put ourselves in the best possible place to counter attempts to buy us.鈥

He added: 鈥淧roject management was small when we started pushing it six years ago; now it鈥檚 24% of turnover. I doubt programme management will grow as quickly but I hope it will be make a double-digit contribution to turnover in five years.鈥

Smith said the restructure would not lead to the closure of offices or redundancies.
