Engineers and architects are named to work on London Crossrail stations
The full list of engineers and architects that will work on Crossrail stations has been announced. Scott Wilson and Weston Williamson will design Paddington, WSP and John McAslan & Partners are on Bond Street and a joint venture between Arup and Atkins will design Tottenham Court Road, with engineer Hawkins Brown.
Scott Wilson will also work on Farringdon with Aedas, while Mott MacDonald and Wilkinson Eyre are on Liverpool Street and Hyder and BDP have won Whitechapel. A contract to handle architectural component design has gone to Atkins and Grimshaw & Partners.
Crossrail also announced it would award a set of contracts for detailed design services for three tunnel portals and four of the central stations under its framework agreements.
The contracts in this set are as follows:
- Package C154 (Victoria Dock portal): Hyder
- Package C156 (North Woolwich and Plumstead portals): Capita Symonds
- Package C132 (Bond Street station): WSP
- Package C130 (Paddington station): Scott Wilson
- Package C138 (Liverpool Street station): Mott MacDonald
- Package C140 (Whitechapel station): Hyder.
Under the Crossrail design framework agreements announced in December 2008, the selected firms for each of the seven design categories have the opportunity to compete for packages of design work on the project.
Dr Graham Plant, programme director at Crossrail, said: "Crossrail has reached a major milestone in the detailed design process, as the designs for Crossrail stations along the central route will play a key role in delivering a world-class affordable railway. We look forward to working closely with each of these companies."
