Crispin & Borst, a subsidiary of French construction company Vinci, has posted a 3% rise in pre-tax profit from 拢3.3m to 拢3.4m in the year ended 31 December 2007.

The contractor, which is based in the South-east and whose clients include London Zoo and the Prison Service, showed an increase in turnover of 1% from 拢148.6m to 拢150.6m.

The highest paid director took home a total of 拢153,000, which was 13% up on last year鈥檚 拢136,000. The average salary across the 557 staff was 拢43,211.

A company statement said: 鈥淕ood progress continues to be made on the Prison Service design-and-build refurbishment programme, which generates a large proportion of turnover. The current portfolio has reached a value in excess of 拢68m.鈥
