DIO appoints housebuilder on £1bn scheme to redevelop Wyton Airfield near Huntingdon
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has appointed Crest Nicholson as its development partner to redevelop an airfield in Cambridgeshire into a £1bn 4,500-home community.
The Wyton Airfield site, located near Huntingdon, is no longer needed by the Ministry of Defence.
The scheme will also include two new primary schools, a new secondary school, a district centre including shops and a doctors’ surgery, and improved public transport connections into Cambridge and Huntingdon.
The DIO plans to submit the scheme for planning in early 2016.
