Scheme will include 2,000 homes, office and retail space
Housebuilder Countryside has been selected alongside social landlord L&Q to take on the 拢560m regeneration of the South Acton Estate in Ealing, London.
The contract, which is thought to involve the construction of approximately 2,000 homes, will see the redevelopment of the existing estate across a 40 acre site.
Half of the homes will be affordable, with the remainder for private sale. The redevelopment will also include community, cultural, office and retail space. Countryside is working with HTA Architects as masterplanners and lead architects; and Alison Brooks Architects as character area architects on the scheme. AECOM and Terence O鈥橰ourke are also on the project team.
A masterplan for the area is to be completed in the summer, with a planning application to be submitted later in the year.
Richard Cherry, deputy chairman of Countryside Properties, said: 鈥淥ur over-arching vision is to transform the South Acton Estate into a highly sought after, sustainable, residential community that all residents are proud to live in.鈥
Councillor Will Brooks, cabinet member for housing at the London borough of Ealing said: "This is a very positive step for the estate. It鈥檚 great that we鈥檝e been able to appoint the developer that the residents' group preferred."
