Energy group TXU has appointed contractor Bovis Lend Lease as construction manager for its £35m UK business centre in Ipswich, Suffolk. The building is due for completion in February 2003.

McAlpine wins £18.5m race
Contractor Sir Robert McAlpine has won a contract to build a grandstand at York racecourse. The £18.5m Ebor Stand will replace the existing 65 Stand.

Ibex nabs two contracts
London fit-out contractor Ibex Interiors has won two contracts totalling £5.25m. Ibex will fit out American energy conglomerate Dynergy's head office in Richmond, west London, and build a sales complex for auctioneer Sotheby's at the Olympia exhibition centre in Kensington, west London.

Fairview appoints Natta
Specialist contractor Natta ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Company has won a £130,000 contract to work on the first phase of Fairview New Homes' 450-unit development in Ashford, Kent. The contract covers the installation of the infrastructure services and drainage and the construction of access roads.

Higgins wins revamp job
Essex contractor Higgins Construction has been selected to work on housing association Circle 33's £20m modernisation of the Warner Estate in Walthamstow, east London. The project will last 10 years and includes the £2m construction of two housing schemes designed by HTA Architects.

Totty to work for sister firm
Contractor Totty Construction has won a £3.45m contract to build an HQ, workshop and depot for its sister company, crowd control specialist Eve Trakway at Bramley Vale in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The project is due for completion in February.

Blizzard
Oil giant Esso has appointed Birmingham-based quantity surveyor Blizzards to upgrade refrigeration at Esso sites nationwide. Blizzards will handle works to enhance cold drinks and food displays at 27 Esso service stations.
