Museum to reopen in 2024
is on to find a company to carry out a £12m refurbishment of the Hull Maritime Museum and dock office chambers.
The revamp of the grade II* listed Hull Maritime Museum will reveal more of its original architecture, create new visitor facilities and open up the second floor to the public as well as access to one the building’s domes.
Prior to works starting, 50,000 objects will need to be packed and moved from the museum.
The refurbishment is expected to take 18 months to complete, with another year required to restock the revamp museum. It is expected to reopen in spring 2024.
