South African workers who helped build football stadiums each get two free match tickets
South African construction workers are to be given free tickets to football matches in the 2010 World Cup at stadiums that they have helped to build.
Fifa president Sepp Blatter said that 20,000 double tickets would be given to construction workers at all the venues.
The tickets will be for the first Fifa World Cup match at the stadium the workers helped build, except for Soccer City where workers will instead receive tickets for the second match.
Chairman of the South African Local Organising Committee for the 2010 World Cup, Irvin Khiza, said that the subcommittee would determine the construction workers who would be given free tickets.
鈥淭he subcommittee should identify who should get the tickets from the people doing earthworks, overlaying, installing seats and air-conditioners, and the electricians.鈥
