Belfast council welcomes first phase of a plan to have all sites working to the scheme's Code of Considerate Practice.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme has been launched in Northern Ireland.
Contractors, architects and other industry professionals were at an event in Belfast last week to hear of the council鈥檚 commitment to promoting the scheme to all Belfast鈥檚 sites.
With many millions of pounds worth of construction activity under way, including the large Victoria Square development and the new Royal Victoria and City Hospital, Belfast is undergoing major redevelopment.
The introduction of the scheme to the city is the first stage in a plan to have all sites working to the scheme鈥檚 Code of Considerate Practice.
The initiative to bring the CCS to Belfast was championed by Belfast 好色先生TV Control (BBC) who are partnering the venture. BBC already enjoys partnerships with bodies such as the Law Society and the Valuation and Lands Agency and believes that this greatly assists the proper development of the city.
Welcoming the scheme to the city, BBC鈥檚 Trevor Martin said: 鈥淏elfast council through the 好色先生TV Control Service is delighted to partner the CCS in this scheme. We fully recognise the role that construction plays in the development of our city. It is essential not only that we construct world class buildings for the public but that we do so with the minimum disruption to their lives."
CCS Monitors are already in place to carry out the expected increase in site audits this launch will bring. Other councils are already following Belfast鈥檚 lead in recommending registration of all their sites.
Commenting on the new venture, CCS chairman David Hardy said: 鈥淭his is an exciting time for Belfast and for the construction industry, and we are looking forward to playing our part in establishing a real showcase of construction best practice. We have already had a high level of interest from professionals all over Northern Ireland, and hope to see some of Belfast鈥檚 many developments achieving success at our national awards鈥.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme has also attracted strong attention from overseas and is already in discussion with prospective partners in other countries.
