Shadow transport secretary says there is 'no doubt whatsoever' there will be no third runway at the airport if the party is elected
The Conservative party today reiterated its commitment to scrapping the Heathrow expansion plans if it wins the general election next year.
Shadow transport secretary Theresa Villiers told the Tory conference there was 鈥渘o doubt whatsoever鈥 that there would be no third runway at the airport if the party is elected.
She said: 鈥淭here comes a point when stuffing more and more flights into the same overcrowded corner of the south of England starts to impose an unacceptably high cost to our environment and to our quality of life.
鈥淲hen it comes to new runways at Heathrow it鈥檚 time to say 鈥榯hus far and no further鈥. Heathrow needs to be better, not bigger.鈥
