Architect Conran + Partners named for project to convert Lilian Baylis School and develop 220 homes
Architect Conran + Partners has been appointed to work on a 拢60m residential development planned for the site of a former school in south London.
Henley Homes is proposing to construct some 220 apartments on the site of the former Lilian Baylis School in Lambeth, retaining and restoring the building鈥檚 original listed facades for the project, which will include new-build homes as well as conversions.
Henley chief executive officer Tariq Usmani said work at the 3.2 acre site would be far from straightforward, but that planning permission for the phased development would be sought in June.
鈥淲e are pleased to be working with Conran + Partners on this most challenging of sites, as they have a good track record in dealing with that testing combination of listed facades and contemporary architecture,鈥 he said.
鈥淓nglish Heritage will be consulted throughout the process and the end result will deliver high quality housing for the London borough of Lambeth, a significant proportion of which will be affordable.鈥
