Architect and artist collaborate for temporary pavilion in Sweden made entirely from concrete

Architect David Chipperfield and artist Antony Gormley have teamed up to build a concrete pavilion in Kivik, southeast Sweden.

It is not the first time last year鈥檚 Stirling Prize winner has collaborated with Gormley, best known for the Angel of the North and his iron man figures in Merseyside. Chiperfield also designed Gormley鈥檚 studio in King鈥檚 Cross.

Formed of three interlocked 100 cubic metre concrete volumes, the 18m sculpture allows vistors to climb through the interior to take in unparalleled views across the Baltic from a platform at the top.

Designed for the Kivik Arts Centre, the sculpture will be open until 28 September.
