Carillion has been named as preferred bidder for a £137m road maintenance contract in Canada.
Carillion has struck a seven-year deal with the Alberta Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation for the maintenance of 5,670km of two-lane roads in Alberta. The contract will be worth £137m.
Carillion chief executive John McDonough said: "This contract represents a further significant step in development of our business in Canada, in line with our strategy of growing support services and PPP activities alongside a selective construction capability."
The contract includes road patrolling, maintenance of rest areas, vegetation and signs, traffic markings, emergency traffic control and winter road maintenance.
