Yorkshire firm to build new teaching and public services centre

Yorkshire contractor Caddick Construction has chalked up a £25m contract to build a new centre for the Manchester College.

The job, awarded by the college’s operator LTE Group, will see a new sports, teaching and public services building built at the college’s Openshaw campus in east Manchester.

The new facility will also include a six-court sports hall, a healthcare suite and learning spaces for sports, construction, mechanics, engineering and healthcare students.

Enabling works are already underway with the scheme is expected to take 14 months and facilities scheduled to open to students in September 2021.

The award follows the appointment of Willmott Dixon on a £54m contract to build a new city-centre campus for the college on the site of the former Boddingtons brewery.

Both projects forms part of the LTE Group’s £139m estates strategy, which aims to transform its facilities over the next two years.
