Clugston completes 拢1.2m sustainable project in Sunderland
A business hub constructed entirely from shipping containers has been unveiled in Sunderland.
The 拢1.2m building 鈥 which will house 10,000ft2 of offices and accommodation for start-up businesses 鈥 was constructed using 37 used shipping containers.
Each one of the containers will typically have been in use for 20 years, travelling upwards of 1 million miles around the world.
The project was constructed by Clugston Construction.
Clugston Construction鈥檚 North-east regional manager Steve Waggett said: 鈥淲e are extremely pleased to have completed such an exciting scheme.
鈥淣ot only is it an innovative use of freight containers that may have otherwise been scrapped or left unused, but it is a sustainable project that will benefit the local community in the long term.鈥
