Chris Hetherington has filled the newly-created role of group chief operating officer
Engineering consultancy Buro Happold has filled its newly-created group chief operating officer role by hiring from outside the sector.
The company appointed Chris Hetherington, a chartered accountant and law graduate who has worked at communications specialist Cable & Wireless.
Hetherington has had operations, finance and general management roles at Cable & Wireless, Price Waterhouse and Reuters.
He has held a non-executive position at Buro Happold since 2009. In addition to the chief operating officer role, Hetherington will become a partner at the firm.
His new position will involve working on group commercial and business activities and liasing with senior management.
Buro Happold has been active on a number of global projects including the London 2012 Olympic stadium and the Abu Dhabi Louvre.
