Multidisciplinary engineer pushes into Far East with opening of new office
Buro Happold has opened an office in Hong Kong to expand its presence in the Far East.
The multidisciplinary engineer has appointed Matthew Smith as operations director of the new office.
The Hong Kong office has already won its first large job, as structural engineering and sustainability consultant for the West-Kowloon Terminus of the proposed express rail link with mainland China. Buro Happold will be working with an Aecom/Aedas joint venture on the above-ground station.
Rod Macdonald, chairman of Buro Happold, said: 鈥淥ur new Hong Kong office is the latest chapter in the story of Buro Happold and follows our office openings in Copenhagen this spring and India last year.
鈥淚t is a clear sign of our commitment to international clients, as well as the Far East market, where we have been active since the 1980s. It will provide a strong platform for the future growth of the practice.鈥
