Over 500,000 workers may be missing out on tax refunds
Construction workers are losing out on 拢180m of unclaimed tax refunds, according to new research.
As many as 518,650 permanent construction workers are missing out on tax refunds on travel between temporary workplaces, according to tax refund specialist RIFT.
The figures are based on analysis of labour market statistics and tax refund databases.
RIFT said the average PAYE construction worker stood to gain by over 拢600 by claiming the available refund.
Jan Post, managing director of RIFT, said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 a national scandal that thousands of hard working people are missing out on tax refunds that are rightfully theirs.
鈥淗ard working people are seeing their wage packets stretched more than ever before, and deserve to be able to claw back this money from HMRC.鈥
