Six councils’ BSF projects are u for review
The six councils that will have their scrapped BSF projects reviewed by the government following a court ruling have been given until 11 April to make their case for funding.
Education secretary Michael Gove has written to the six councils - Newham, Luton, Nottingham, Waltham Forest, Kent and Sandwell - asking for information on areas including building condition, contractual liabilities and basic need pressures. Councils have also been asked to outline how the schools’ circumstances differ from others that are not due to receive any BSF funding.
Partnerships for Schools, the government’s delivery agency, has been asked to carry out site surveys of the schools.
The move follows a High Court ruling that took place in a judicial review last month.
