Studio opening takes architect鈥檚 total number of international bases to 14

Broadway Malyan has opened its first office in India to target its booming construction economy.

The Mumbai studio opening follows a recent project win to design the 250-room 鈥淒ouble Tree鈥 Hilton hotel in Hyderabad, where construction is due to begin in the autumn.

The architecture practice is also working on a number of masterplanning, mixed-use and hospitality schemes in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad.

The Mumbai office will be led by Ian Sampson, director, and Shweta Ranpura, associate director.

The studio opening takes the architect鈥檚 total number of international bases to 14.

Gary Whittle, managing director, said: 鈥淭he new office will support our international growth strategy, further enhance our global network, which now includes 14 bases and spans from S茫o Paulo to Shanghai, making us one of the world鈥檚 most geographically spread practices, and provide an additional platform for us to export our expertise, experience and skills.

鈥淚t is a clear sign of our commitment to international clients, a response to growing client demand in India and evidence of our continued investment in the practice, for our own benefit and clients鈥 businesses, to ensure that we continue to be a long-standing design partner of choice, with over 80 per cent of our 2010 income from repeat business.

鈥淥n the back of our long-standing track record for residential-led and mixed use schemes, we鈥檝e built a diverse team of world-class sector experts who are delivering a diverse portfolio of projects, including a wide range of masterplanning, mixed use and hospitality projects across India.鈥
