Hollywood star to work with architect GRAFT on sustainable hotel in Middle East
Brad Pitt is to design an environmentally-friendly five-star hotel and resort in Dubai.
The actor will work as a design consultant to Los Angeles architecture firm GRAFT on the 800-room hotel, for developer Zabeel Properties.
Zabeel is aiming to make the proposed hotel conform to a minimum of LEED Gold standards 鈥 roughly equivalent to BREEAM ratings of between 鈥榁ery Good鈥 and 鈥楨xcellent鈥. It says Pitt has a 鈥渄eep-seated interest鈥 in the project.
Pitt said: 鈥淲hilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion. Selecting this development as my first major construction project has been a simple decision. It will underpin not only my values for environmentally-friendly architecture, but also embrace my career in entertainment. We will be unveiling precise plans in the next few months, but you can expect something that is not only stunning to look at, but will also be an incredible attraction to visit or stay at.鈥
The Dubai complex is not Pitt鈥檚 first foray into architecture 鈥 his charity Making It Right is building 150 sustainable homes designed by 13 architects in an area of New Orleans ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.
