Councillors who deal with planning applications should be forced to undergo training in land economics, the property industry will say in proposals to be outlined next week.
The British Property Federation (BPF) is due to launch a 12-point manifesto on Tuesday that sets out how the commercial property industry wants to see the planning system changed to encourage development.
Liz Peace, the BPF鈥檚 chief executive, said the industry did not want to see root-and-branch reform of the system, or more reviews from the government. 鈥淭here is no great appetite for binning it and starting again. It鈥檚 about steps we can take to make the existing system work better.鈥
