Hawkins|Brown-designed scheme being built for city鈥檚 Trent university
Bowmer & Kirkland has picked up a 拢21m job to build a new digital arts centre for Nottingham Trent University.
Designed by Hawkins\Brown, the 10-storey building at 40-42 Shakespeare Street will provide learning spaces for the university鈥檚 film, television, animation, design, games design and graphic design courses.
Turner & Townsend, whose 60% sale of the business to CBRE was completed last week, is project manager and cost consultant alongside structural engineer Mott MacDonald, fire engineer Arup, MEP engineer Waterman and acoustic engineer Max Fordham.
Scheduled to open in 2023, the 拢35m scheme will include new studio spaces for each discipline as well as exhibition spaces, film editing suites, a screen printing room and a cafe.
The new 5,300 sq m building will replace two unused buildings on the site, which Hawkins\Brown said have become outdated for the university鈥檚 needs.
Bowmer & Kirkland is currently building the 拢100m Bank House building in Newcastle, which will house the city centre鈥檚 first high rise office space once completed in 2023.
