Contractor is to get underway this month on construction of Loughborough University’s new hall of residence
Bowner & Kirkland has been awarded a £44m contract for a new hall of residence at Loughborough University.
Located on the university’s campus the project will involve construction of 600 new rooms for its students, including up to 70 athlete rooms and 40 elite athlete rooms.
The accommodation will be a mix of en-suite rooms and ‘cluster’ flats with shared facilities with specialist nutritional facilities for athletes studying at Loughborough University
Some existing buildings will be demolished to make way for the new hall of residence and energy centre.
The scheme is to start on site this month with completion scheduled for September 2019.
The contract was originally tendered last autumn with an estimated value of £35m.
