These panels reduce energy costs by providing solar shading
Bowater Projects has added solar shading and photovoltaic (PV) panel options to its System 10 aluminium curtain walling range. The firm says the panels provide solar shading, which reduces energy costs, and that the PV panels can be slotted into any of its System 10 aluminium curtain walling frames, allowing the user to generate electricity to export to the National Grid. The company claims a PV installation in London of 152m2, subject to an average annual temperature of 12ºC, would generate up to 6,697kWh in a year.
The products offer U-values ranging from 1.5W/m2K with 28mm glazing units, to 1.0W/m2K with 32mm triple-glazed units. The system fits with PVCu or aluminium-framed windows and doors. Finishes are available in a full range of RAL colour options.
