Birmingham council unveils an HS2 masterplan for the redevelopment of 141 acres of the city centre

Birmingham City Council has unveiled a HS2 masterplan for the redevelopment of 141 acres of the city centre, including a new high-speed rail terminal.

Plans include the creation of 600,000 sq m of buildings and 2,000 new homes.

The regeneration will boost Birmingham鈥檚 economy by 拢1.3bn each year, the council said.

The original Curzon Street station was one of oldest in the UK, and the first ever London to Birmingham service arrived there in September 1838.

The historic Grade I listed entrance of the old Curzon Street station will be revived as part of the masterplan.
