Danish architect reveals images of residential complex
A design team led by Danish architect BIG has unveiled designs for a luxury residential building in the Bahamas called the 鈥楬oneycomb鈥.
The 175,000 sq ft building overlooks a marina in the beach and golf resort of Albany on New Province Island and features a facade with a hexagonal pattern, earning it the 鈥榟oneycomb鈥 name.
Each balcony will feature a private pool overlooking the marina and cooking space.
BIG worked with architecture practices HKS and MDA on the designs.
BIG鈥檚 Bjarke Ingels said: 鈥淥ur design is driven by an effort to maximize the enjoyment of the abundant natural qualities of Albany in The Bahamas: the landscape, the sea and the sun.
鈥淎 honeycomb fa莽ade functionally supports the pools making them sink into the terrace floor and provides spectacular sight lines while maintaining privacy for each residence.
鈥淒rawing inspiration from its coastal setting, the hexagonal design evokes the natural geometries you find in certain coral formations or honeycombs.鈥
