Usual suspects dominate tender list for Crossrail station
Crossrail has shortlisted five construction consortiums for the main job to build Paddington鈥檚 Crossrail station, worth up to 拢250m.
The news follows the opening of procurement on the four remaining major stations yesterday, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street and Whitechapel.
The consortiums that have now been invited to tender for Paddington are:
- Costain Skanska JV
- Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall and Vinci JV
- BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Agroman and Kier Construction
- Laing O鈥橰ourke and Strabag JV
- Carillion Construction
The news also follows the departure last week of the 拢14.5bn project鈥檚 chief executive, Rob Holden.
Andy Mitchell, programme director, Crossrail said: 鈥2011 will be a year of significant continued progress for Crossrail with further high-value contracts to be awarded providing a much-needed boost to UK construction as well as creating major employment opportunities.
鈥淭his year will see the remaining tunnel contracts awarded, manufacture of the tunnel boring machines will begin, the new Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy will open its doors, construction of the tunnel portals will continue and main contracts for all central London Crossrail stations will be let.鈥
