UK鈥檚 largest standalone architect moves into larger Shanghai studio
The UK鈥檚 largest architect BDP has moved into new offices in Shanghai in response to a growing portfolio of work in China.
The firm, which announced a programme of redundancies in the UK and the closure of four regional offices towards the end of last year, also said it would be expanding its design team in the city.
BDP has been involved in China since 2007 and opened a studio at the end of 2010 to support this work and win further projects across a variety of sectors.
Head of the Shanghai studio, Stephen Gillham, said: 鈥淭o support BDP鈥檚 vision for China, our expanding portfolio and our growing design team, we are moving from premises that we had already outgrown to a brand new building nearby in Shanghai鈥檚 Luwan District from where we will be able to provide even stronger solutions for our clients.鈥
BDP developments in China include urban regeneration masterplans, higher education, cultural and leisure facilities and retail and housing schemes in locations including Beijing, Foshan, Hangzhou, Lanzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Suzhou.
