However, the firm鈥檚 pre-tax profit slightly fell

Manchester-based Bardsley Construction increased its turnover in 2010 but saw a slight fall in pre-tax profit.

Turnover was up 12.9% to 拢64.8m for the year to 31 December, while pre-tax profit was down from 拢2.5m to 拢2.3m.

However, its pipeline of secured work as of April 2011 was 拢45m, representing 87% of its targeted turnover for this year - an admission that it expects work to fall significantly this year.

Chairman Roly Bardsley, said: 鈥淏ardsley has been in business for more than 45 years, during which time the company has faced many different challenges, none more than the recent recession and the government Comprehensive Spending Review. However, we have faced these challenges head on and have had one of the best trading results in the company鈥檚 history.鈥
