Work due to finish by autumn 2022
Ahead of its Dutch parent posting its 2020 annual results this week, Bam has signed on the dotted line for a £30m hospital project in Cornwall.
The deal at the Royal Cornwall Hospital on the outskirts of Truro will see it build a new MRI suite, 24-bed haematology oncology ward and associated facilities.
The project team includes architect Stride Treglown, structural engineer Arup and M&E consultant Hoare Lea.
The new building will be a three-storey extension to the existing Trelawny Wing, with the MRI suite connected at lower ground floor level to the imaging department. It will contain up to three scanners.
Work was awarded under the Procure 22 framework and is set to be completed in autumn next year.
Last September, Royal Bam said it had begun a restructuring programme designed to save make annual savings of €100m (£87.5m) a year, after the firm sank to a first half loss in 2020 of €134m (£117m) on turnover down 10% to €3.1bn (£2.7bn).
