Architect Scott Brownrigg behind new scheme
Plans for the new £22m Brecon High School project in Wales have received the stamp of approval.
Scott Brownrigg’s design for the new school was unanimously approved by Powys Council.
The project, which Bam Construction will carry out, will see the existing 1950s secondary school replaced with new 7,500m2 facility that will cater for 750 students. The firm was appointed to be the main contractor on the job in May.
Three teaching areas, a main hall, sports hall, studio, learning resource centre and a 6th Form area are all part of the design.
The business case for the construction of the new school in Brecon was approved last autumn as part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education Programme
Construction is scheduled to begin next February or March, with the school due to open in September 2019.
In November, Bam landed spots on the north and south lots of the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s revamped £8bn school building framework.
