Contractor landed job through university鈥檚 construction framework
Balfour Beatty has been chosen by the University of Strathclyde to deliver its new 拢60m learning and teaching building.
The contract, worth 拢33m, has been awarded through the university鈥檚 Major 好色先生TV Construction framework, to which Balfour Beatty was appointed in February this year.
Kier, Interserve and Galliford Try-owned Morrison are the other contractors who hold places on the university鈥檚 拢250m framework.
The contractor will be responsible for the refurbishment and extension to the existing architecture building and the neighbouring Colville building, linking the two together.
Facilities provided in the new learning and teaching building, which was designed by BDP, will include large-scale teaching spaces and a learning village for individual study and a new student union.
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick will will carry out M&E work.
At construction peak, the project will employ a workforce of more than 200. Work is due to start on site later this year, with completion expected in summer 2020.
