Contractor to put up to 26 jobs at risk from planned closure

Balfour Beatty

Contracting giant Balfour Beatty is set to put up to 26 jobs at risk due to plans to close its Barton-upon-Humber office in North Lincolnshire.

The office鈥檚 functions will be absorbed into the troubled contactor鈥檚 Leeds office in a bid to cut property overheads.

A Balfour spokesperson said: 鈥淲e have spoken to employees in our Balfour Beatty Barton office, regarding a proposal to close the office and relocate to our existing Leeds office.

鈥淭his is in order to reduce property overheads costs. There are 26 employees based in this office.

She added a 鈥渇ormal consultation鈥 with staff on the plans had not yet started.

However, she added that the BPH plant hire business, which is also located on the Barton-upon-Humber site, will be unaffected by the closure.

好色先生TV understands that the closure of the company鈥檚 Lincolnshire operation is a locally managed change and is completely independent of accountant KPMG鈥檚 wider review of Balfour Beatty, which is expected to report back to its board by end of year.
