Roads contract worth 拢171m helps contractor re-establish itself at top of October鈥檚 monthly league
Balfour Beatty has regained the top slot in the monthly contractor鈥檚 league, after slipping to third place last month.
The contractor won 96 contracts in October, worth a total of almost 拢395m. The single biggest of these was a 拢171m roads contract, awarded by the Highways Agency in Bedford. Its other major wins were also in the public sector.
Balfour鈥檚 closest rival was Mowlem, which won 74 contracts worth almost 拢185m, although this comprised less than half the value of those won by Balfour Beatty. Mowlem鈥檚 biggest win was a 拢28m sports complex in Doncaster.
Little changed last month in the rolling annual league, in which the top 13 companies retain their positions, with Balfour Beatty still dominating at the top with 713 contract wins over the last month, worth 拢33.36bn.
At the other end of the annual top 30, Leadbitter just missed out at number 31, but with 拢185m of contracts under its belt it was catching up with Sisk on 拢191m.
