Larger phase at Lewisham site due to start next spring
Balfour Beatty has won the next phase of the 拢375m Lewisham Gateway scheme in south-east London, 好色先生TV understands.
The firm has beaten Multiplex to the deal which will see a block comprising elements of three, 10 and 12 storeys, one of four storeys, another featuring 16 to 19 storeys and a fourth comprising 30 storeys. Planning was given by the local council late last year.
The construction value of the second phase is understood to be around 拢200m.
Developer Muse has said work on this larger phase will start in the first quarter of next year.
Designed by UN Studio with executive architect PRP, the practice behind the first phase, the blocks will deliver 530 residential build-to-rent units. The second phase also includes retail, a cinema and gym as well as co-working space.
The first phase saw just under 200 flats built over two buildings at 25 and 15 storeys high. This work was carried out by John Sisk.
The Lewisham deal marks the latest in Balfour鈥檚 growing portfolio of high-rise residential schemes. It recently topped out a 53-storey block for LBS Properties called the Madison.
Designed by Make, the scheme at South Quay in east London, will have more than 400 homes by the time it is completed next summer.
