Group is named preferred bidder by Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust for delivery of new healthcare centres in Ponetfract and Wakefield.
Balfour Beatty has been announced as the preferred bidder for a 拢250m healthcare PPP.
The 35-year concession at Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals Development PPP Project will see the delivery of a new acute inpatient hospital in Wakefield and a new Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Pontefract for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The PPP is planned to reach financial close by January 2006, and Balfour Beatty is likely to invest around 拢15m of equity in the project.
The project is being delivered through Balfour Beatty鈥檚 Consort Healthcare, which is a joint venture with the Royal Bank of Scotland. Balfour Beatty companies will be responsible for the majority of the construction and all of the building services and physical facilities management.
Balfour Beatty chief executive Mike Welton said: 鈥淲hen complete, the project will enable the transformation of hospital services across Wakefield and Pontefract and the optimisation of services at Dewsbury District Hospital to achieve the Trust's ambitions of high-quality patient care.鈥
The new Pontefract Hospital is expected to open in 2008/9 while the new Pinderfields Hospital will open in 2009/10.
