German arm of Aukett Fitzroy Robinson wins contract for scheme, which is part of wider mixed-use development
The German operating arm of Aukett Fitzroy Robinson has been appointed to design the first Sheraton hotel in Berlin.
Aukett + Heese was awarded the contract by project developer Chamartin Meermann Immobilien. Arabella Hospitality Group in joint venture with Starwood Hotels and Resorts will operate the development.
The 464 -bedroom hotel will encompass a presidential suite, spa, two restaurants, a ballroom and contemporary conference centre. It is part of a 38,500m2 mixed use property, and the space will be divided into two separate but connected buildings over nine floors.
An 800m2 roof terrace will offer hotel guests a unique panoramic view of the German capital, and a skywalk will connect the building to Berlin's main rail terminal, which has direct connections to the new Berlin Brandenburg international airport.
