Bay Pointe waterfront development will feature Wales’ tallest residential buildings
Atkins’ masterplan for Bay Pointe in Cardiff Bay has received planning approval. The initial design, selected through competition in July 2005, had been revised in consultation with the clients, Allied Developments (Europe) and City Lofts Group.
The Bay Pointe residential scheme will comprise 1,800 waterfront apartments in 10 buildings, including two towers of 27 and 33 storeys, as well as 30,500 sq ft of on-site amenities such as retail outlets. The towers, designed in conjunction with Conran & Partners, will become Wales’ tallest residential buildings when completed in 2014.
Central to the design is a high proportion of public open space with cycle paths and walkways, in order to residents to minimise car use. Its also has other green features such as the provision of its own heat and power, and sustainable construction methods will be used.
