Firm is one of 14 teams competing for work in Middle East outposts
Atkins, in collaboration with Innovative Technical Solutions, has been selected as one of 14 multidisciplinary teams who will compete for $4bn worth of work for the US Army Corps of Engineers鈥 Middle East District.
Under the Multiple Award Task Order Contract, Atkins will provide architecture and engineering support services for all construction and design-build tasks won by the ITSI team over the next five years.
The MATOC covers critical projects in support of the US military and foreign policy interests which encompasses 20 countries across the Middle East.
Atkins鈥 designers will provide masterplanning, concept designs, cost estimates, project schedules, material specifications and construction administration services.
Commenting on the appointment, Atkins鈥 senior programme manager, Scott Borges said: 鈥淲hile the geographic scope of this effort is diverse, nearly all of the design and project management will be carried out from here in the US via a sophisticated 鈥榬each back鈥 technical support system.
鈥淭his is a proven system that we鈥檝e used successfully for similar work in support of the US Army in Afghanistan, Djibouti, and in other locations.鈥
The appointment comes just a week after Atkins was re-selected to provide architecture and engineering services for the US Air Force Air Combat Command鈥檚 infrastructure and facilities worldwide.
